Free Range Equal Exchange
Well, after working into the wee hours of the morning over this past weekend we were able to pull something of a coffee trike together. Saturday started like usual with a trip to the Union Square Farmer’s market helping collect fresh veggie donations for Food For Free from awesome farms like the Parker Farm, Drumlin Farm, and Hutchins Farm to name a few. After collecting about 850 pounds of food and transporting it in two loads to the cooler at Food For Free, I came back and jumped into some more projects with the coffee trike. They included securing the two full sized 12V batteries to power the coffee maker while out at the market, installing and bleeding the hydraulic disc brake system, installing and adjusting the chains and cables for both front and rear derailleurs and I think that was about it.
It still took us all night to wrap up the project to be able to present it at the first annual Food truck Festival in Boston. I think we were all pleased with the outcome and Erik was able to ride it out of the shop downtown to the event and also get it back, so my assembly of the drivetrain proved successful.
Working in the shop until about 5 in the morning, we had to call it a night and get a quick snooze before the ride to the first everĀ truck festival at 9AM. Overall, I have to say it was a success and we had coffee to share at the event. Now, we will be finishing up with the trike and starting work on another identical one. We still have some bugs to work out and some final design and fabrication, but its really starting to look like one hell of a coffee trike.

Congrats! It was great to see the build in progress. Can’t wait to see it in action.
