Cambridge Recycling
Now that we’re caught up on the recycling project and getting into a pretty good routine, I have some time to recollect what is exactly happening. We are conducting a two week pilot project to see if the idea of picking up recycling in Porter Square, Central, Inman, Harvard, Kendall and some outlying parks is a good idea and plausible for both Metro Pedal Power and the City of Cambridge. So far, so good. What it means though is that we are up one more regular route and at the same employee level so we are a little tired at the moment with everything going on. At least us cyclists enjoy equal exchange coffee!! So with a nice new cage designed and put together by Erik as well as some nice oiled panels, our recycle cycle is gracing the streets of Cambridge and we are doing your dirty work.

Recycle Cycle!!!
So if any of you are reading about this, please make sure to not be lazy and throw your junk in the recycling. Drink your drinks, stop throwing garbage down any hole you can find and consume responsibly. Its pretty easy to save a lot of money by buying a refillable and reusable container for your coffees, teas, waters, sodas, etc. If you don’t appreciate how much a business is wasting, its easy, don’t support them. We are not garbage workers and I don’t think anyone truly enjoys picking up other people’s waste, including them. Ok, with that said, ride safe and stay cool out there. Summer is not over yet. If you’re looking for some inspiration, here’s an article about some good things happening lately.

Thanks for providing this quiet, zero-emission service! This gives me hope that we may have a sustainable Cambridge for my children and their descendants to enjoy.
