Shop Update
Hey Boston Pedallers! As summer continues, we are keeping busy in all aspects of the job. Some recent news was the addition of a storage unit which we have unloaded on the side of our building allowing us more space in our shop for… you guessed it, more bicycles!! We have already filled the unit with Farm crates, coolers, tables, bike parts, and its amazing how much room it takes up. Erik and Wenzday were kind enough to let me re-organize the front area of the shop where most of our maintenance on our fleet takes place. With the extra room in the shop, I can now work on everything with a little more space. Goody! Recently I worked on a Pedicab that was missing a rear differential bolt and had some really worn out chain rings on the main drive. And by worn out, I mean about half of them were missing. I don’t know why, but I enjoy working on other bicycles before my own. So this was a fun project and now that we have all the extra space, I enjoyed getting my hands dirty. So if any of you out there want to switch out the drivetrain on my personal bicycle, let me know. I have the new chain and cassette waiting here for you.
Erik has been really busy in the back of the shop working on some larger projects involving building two pedal powered tricycles for coffee making and distribution at the farmer’s markets. I hope Equal Exchange has some powerful legs amongst their crew. Also, we are teaming up with the city of Cambridge to collect recycling at certain drop points so Erik is building a a new cargo option to replace one of our covered cargo beds we have now.
Soon I will be posting some more photos of our bicycles out on the job. I have been forgetting the camera because first and foremost all I can think about is fresh baked goods, veggies and the smell of tea. That Red Fire Farm lemon basil has a pretty good scent too.
